How to Apply Your Intuitive Abilities in Everyday Situations

When you picture an intuitive individual, you might conjure images of an old woman staring into a crystal ball. But in reality, it’s a lot less theatrical than that! Intuition isn’t as out of reach as many people think. In fact, we're all intuitive to some degree. Opening the door to a deeper experience of the universe is about understanding and developing those natural gifts.

Personally, my intuition leads me forward day in and day out: it’s there with me for major drama as well as minor inconveniences. Our intuition is everpresent in our lives, and if you commit to working this mental muscle, you’ll have unfettered access to the spirit guides who whisper wisdom in our ears. That means your awareness will be fully heightened, even on mundane occasions.

Whether it’s choosing a line to stand in at the supermarket or considering a potential romantic breakup, our intuition ushers us through everyday situations with a soul-led power.

Making Decisions

One of the most basic purposes of human intuition is how it helps us in our decision-making. Back in our caveman days, this involved split-second choices in wild environments to survive, but now, it’s more often than not going to be about navigating everyday challenges. Believe it or not, problem-solving solutions to a minor issue and brainstorming titles for your latest book can be equally intuition-driven!

Not Always “No Biggie” Days

Your intuition is the vehicle behind simple decisions like, “Should I bring a coat with me tonight?” and “How should I phrase this email to my boss?” Yes, even gifted clairvoyants might keep an ear out for input on what lotto numbers to play! Intuition is an invisible organizing force in our lives moving us to and from the things that may or may not serve us well.

Of course, our intuitive abilities also aid in crises or similarly serious moments. Maybe you’ve been thinking about leaving a job you’ve been at for years, or you’re mourning the loss of a loved one and are completely unmoored. These are the fires that forge talented intuitives.

In tougher times, it’s often difficult to trust ourselves since we’re fallible beings who tend to question every single thought or feeling that arises… but with intuition, you never have to debate whether or not you’re “onto something.”

If you have a hunch about a certain situation—whether it’s a person you’re inexplicably drawn to or a place that makes you uneasy—listen to it! There’s a reason you’re picking up on those vibes, and though it might not be clear just yet as to why, an explanation will reveal itself.

Understanding Other People

Another aspect of our lives that’s affected by intuition is social dynamics. We’re able to intuit relationships with others more wisely when we let intuition be our guide. Have you ever sworn that the new friend in the group is just “off” somehow, not knowing why? You probably noticed tiny details or heard warnings from the universe that told you to proceed with caution.

Empaths Excel

Intuitive people are more likely to be empathic since intuition requires a kind of empathy. They’re closely related and both skills foster the other, so if you’re an intuitive empath, you’re channeling your abilities constantly. It can be difficult to turn that volume down, making its presence in a daily routine a bit of a drain.

Self-care is so important as an intuitive empath because it can absorb a lot of your mental and spiritual energy, as is troubleshooting how to balance what you take in each day. Give yourself a chance to tune out of those situations that leave you tired, and instead tune into the ones that you find meaningful.

One of the most important skills intuitive empaths employ is the ability to read someone in a second. Empaths are excellent judges of character, more so than anyone else. We feel human energy on a unique wavelength, and it’s a powerful voice within us when we’re navigating social scenes.

If you suspect that you’re an intuitive empath, you can apply that innate sense to your encounters with others. First impressions, lingering concerns, un-ignorable traits—they all contribute to your intuitive understanding of a person.

Avoiding Danger

Intuitive personalities have a unique knack for handling themselves no matter how dire a situation appears to be. Their spiritual connections protect them from harm and support them in keeping others safe too. “Better safe than sorry” really hits if our intuition is screaming at us to run. Fight or flight is an intuitive response, after all!

The Role of “Your Gut”

When we say, “I have a gut feeling,” it’s a direct reference to the intuitive messaging we receive from the universe. This is not a whim we should brush off. Again, there’s a reason for whatever you’re feeling, and it’s foolish to dismiss yourself.

I’ve heard stories from colleagues and clients alike where they’ve suddenly felt an overpowering realization about something that ultimately could’ve been fatal. Stories about spontaneously opting for a different jogging route and learning later that a car crash occurred on their usual one abound with intuitives, or getting a strange feeling from someone who ends up being toxic or violent in the future.

At these critical moments, we are very likely under the protection of divine intuition, meaning that our intuition is being guided by a higher power that cares for us and is looking out for our well-being. The universe literally extends a hand to stop us from doing something unknowingly risky.

In other words, if you have an instinct, don’t ignore it! It could potentially save your life or spare you injury—physically or emotionally. And sometimes, it may even be telling you that something is right, but just not right now. Without developing your intuitive abilities, it can be tricky to understand the nuances of what the universe is telling us, and that can actually lead us in the wrong direction in life. With the right mentor, you can further develop your intuitive abilities so that those seemingly vague instincts become sharper and more useful in everyday situations like these.

An Everyday Skill and a Divine Miracle

Intuition is an essential component of mindful living. We’re so much more intuitive than we give ourselves credit for, and even when we aren’t actively seeking out signs from our spirit guides, we’re still “plugged into” the psychic channels that provide us with valuable insights every day.

Your intuitive abilities are truly a superpower if you develop them. When you’re in touch and experienced with your inner guide, regardless of how intense a situation may or may not be, your soul will help you understand exactly what to do. Deep down, you recognize good and bad energies, and that alternating ebb and flow will grow stronger with time—and practice.
