How to Find Your Calling and Love Living It

As a collective, one of our strongest missions in life is finding our true “calling.” This is the practice that fuels our passion, feeds our spirit, and encourages us to cultivate an existence that’s full of perpetual self-discovery. It’s almost as if we’re hardwired to seek out what calls us in that manner.

Some people are natural healers who are drawn to care work, such as nursing, teaching, or even soul reading, while others feel a connection to scientific paths such as engineering, tech, or similarly mental roles. Whatever pursuit inspires you, it does a person good to find their calling and follow it wholeheartedly.

But it’s not always easy to stumble upon our soul’s purpose—in fact, it’s rarely the case! Few of us are born with an innate sense of what we’re meant to do with our limited time on this planet. Those who don’t necessarily possess this wisdom from day one have to do a little digging to better understand their calling so that they can live it and love it too.

If you need help to find your calling, you’re not alone. The journey to authentic fulfillment is an ever-winding road that we travel daily in order to reap those benefits. Your intuition really is your best ally in this endeavor.

Ways to Find Your Calling

You can improve your odds of finding your calling through several methods. Though we should regularly welcome abundance into our lives anyway, perhaps by manifesting goals as they arise, it’s challenging to unearth the answer to a specific question if we’re not actively trying to support that outcome. Here are a few tips to find your calling!

Look for Signs

It’s not just a coincidence! We’re constantly receiving signs from our spirit guides. You can think of them as guardian angels of a sort as they usher us through difficult decisions and into the future we deserve. Be on the lookout for signs that resonate, since your spirit guides want you to receive these messages for a reason.

Looking for these clues is a good habit to adopt if you want to connect deeply with your spirit guides in your day-to-day life and take some of the mystery out of this relationship. I’ve found that especially intuitive personalities are able to maintain a wondrous connection with their spirit guides, as they’re inexplicably attuned to these signs.

Reflect on Yourself

Of course, finding our calling requires some self-reflection. It’s time to figure out what makes you tick—your background, values, strengths, interests, and skills. Now, holding this amalgamation of YOU up to the light: What reaches out and grabs you? Where do you see yourself thriving? Asking ourselves these questions sheds light on the things that matter most, offering our inner voice the chance to speak and lead the way.

The steps to achieving your dream life (which definitely warrants a connection with your calling) are not going to be short and quick; instead, it’ll be about committing to each inch of progress and being gentle with yourself as you go. And if any self-doubt surfaces during this reflection, remember your power! Being true to yourself is the greatest tenet you can uphold when searching for your soul’s purpose.

Explore and Seek Guidance

Beyond the signs of your spirit guides, feedback from others you trust is invaluable. This guidance can be in the form of advice from respected elders, insight from (reputable) spiritual influencers, or a consensus from your community. The friends, family, and mentors who know you best will imbue clarity in the quest to find your calling.

The big takeaway is that you’re never alone, and it’s often a group effort to tune into metaphysical and corporeal guidance. In fact, the latter stems from the relationships you’ve fostered thus far. Asking for help from those who can provide it isn’t a bad thing—lean into love and learn.

Explore and Experiment

As clichéd as it may sound, exploring what’s out there gives you a clearer idea of what doesn’t call to you in this life. Finding work you love to do is hard. Ask anyone who’s been looking for signs of their calling for a long time, and they’ll confirm that. If you notice a pull toward a particular cause or idea, investigate!

Staying inspired while trying to find your calling is tough, but so is anything in life worth striving for! Volunteering, interning, going back to school—all of these are concrete actions that could shape your exploration into different fields, careers, and practices with a little help from your intuition.

Intuit Your Calling

We all possess the ability to exercise strong intuition in our lives, whether it’s a talent we’re familiar with already or a skill that has yet to be developed. Either way, your intuition is a vital power in discerning your true calling in this life. And don’t forget, we’re fallible beings in a fallible world—your intuition won’t “get it right” all the time, so it’s important to make peace with the fact that mistakes happen and they’re not a reflection of your ability to intuit your calling successfully.

By utilizing your gut instincts to find your soul’s purpose, you’re putting a megaphone to the universe and amplifying its plans for your life at a time when you most need that enlightenment. (FYI, these are the exact conditions that make for a spiritual awakening…!)

Let Intuition Connect Your Call

You never know what you could learn about yourself when you tune out distractions and tune into your soul’s messaging. There might be a supernatural gift or two in your repertoire that you’re only just now discovering thanks to that intention to listen closely.

When we pursue our purpose in life, the experience isn’t linear. It’s a process that takes time and patience, but once you do find your calling, everything will fall into place precisely how it was destined to. Even if it seems like this realization comes effortlessly to others, it’s not meant to be a walk in the park. The reward is too great for the road to be paved smoothly.

As an intuitive reader, I’ve built my life around studying and teaching intuition; its presence in our realities cannot be understated, and helping people channel their own intuition brings me more joy than anything else. If you’re curious about handing the mic over to hear your soul’s voice, I offer intuition workshops plus lots of free resources to connect with yourself on a spiritual level.

Your calling is waiting for you. Keep that soul-led search alive!
